The joys of accountability!

Do you really know who you are and where you are going in your life?

More importantly, do you know what steps you need to take to make your dreams a reality? For many of us, life would be far simpler if it came with an instruction manual or a “roadmap” that would outline the journey for us.

For me, setting the goals can be the easy part. I know what my dreams are and I dream BIG! But what about actually taking the steps that are needed and being accountable for the landmarks on the journey to reach there? It was questions like these that were part of my decision over a year ago to buy the first Map4Life franchise in the Western Cape. The Map programme encompasses so many things that I believe in. The word Map stands for mentorship, accountability and passion, three things that have always been part of my life’s philosophy.

Right from the start I knew that this was something that I wanted to share with others, and for me one of the most exciting parts of the programme are the weekly MapCAFE sessions. My dream is to have a Map Cafe happening every week and then every day in my area and the greater Cape Town.

MapCAFE is a meeting place for up to 20 people who have pledged to be accountable to each other as they make a positive difference in their lives. Each Saturday we get together and receive motivation and positive feedback. We are encouraged to make our dreams come true, and we support each other through the rough patches.
It is 90 minutes out of my week that set me up to meet the challenges and joys of the next week. At the moment we meet once or twice a month.

One of my dreams is for everyone to have a MapCAFE within five kilometres of where they live. Can you imagine the difference it would make to us as individuals, to our neighbourhood, to our towns and cities and to our country? (Remember I said my dreams are big!).

This weekend I am going to ask my fellow MapCAFE attendees to comment here about their experiences. I am sure we are all going to be inspired!
